Hanoi Weather Conditions: Travel and Local Details Guide
Tropical monsoon Hanoi weather is characteristic of northern Vietnam, and Hanoi weather is no exception. In contrast to the pleasant, humid, and largely clear dry season, Hanoi’s rainy season is hot, stuffy, and dreary.
Seasons in Hanoi are four distinct. The climate is mild and tropical, characteristic of the north of Vietnam; the dry season lasts from November to April, while the rainy season lasts from May to October. The wettest and most pleasant months are usually June and August.
Hanoi weather: Best Time To Come
The ideal season to visit Hanoi is September to November or March to April for moderate weather. These months have dry days and temperatures between 18 and 30 °C. From November to March, there is less rain, but it might become chilly at night, so pack a jacket. Many Hanoi residences lack heating, so bring extra blankets for a good night’s sleep.
Seasons
Hanoi has two main seasons: November to April for northeast monsoons and May to October for southwest gales. Winter in the northeast gale season, from November to February, is the coldest and driest, with average temperatures of 10-15 °C and barely 20mm of rain. Spring comes from February to April, with milder temperatures and 80mm of rain in April.
The southwest gale summer of May to September may be uncomfortable due to high temperatures (mid-30s) and heavy rainfall, especially in July and August, when 320mm is normal. Fall is pleasant and bright from September to November.
Spring
From February to April, Hanoi’s spring is humid and rainy. The average temperature is 15–20°C. Tourists may best experience tropical nature in the spring since this Hanoi weather is ideal for plant growth and flowering. Tet, the most important and longest Vietnamese holiday, falls in the spring.
Summer
The average summer temperature in Hanoi is 32°C (which has climbed in recent years), lasting from May to August (July being the warmest month). As global warming worsens, some summers are dry and others are excessively rainy and humid. When leaving home, pack a raincoat or umbrella since Hanoi has heavy rain in the summer. Expect to sweat in the heat and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening!
Autumn
Fall is Hanoi’s most romantic and gorgeous season. This brief season runs from mid-September until late November. With pleasant sunshine, fresh wind, and a dry climate, Hanoi’s autumn is delightful at 25°C. If you like observing the leaves change color, eating fresh green rice, and slowing down to appreciate life, you should visit Hanoi in the fall.
Winter
The average 17.2°C winter Hanoi’s weather begins in December and lasts until late February. It may dip below 10 degrees, and excessive humidity makes it brutally chilly. Visiting a tropical region requires significant warm garments to avoid getting chilled! Hanoi’s winter is known for its wonderful street cuisine, which can warm you up.
Being inland, Hanoi gets away from the brunt of the summertime typhoon tornadoes, yet there can be some wild climate to keep an eye out for.
